Summer in NYC

Art Auction

A big thank you to everyone who made it out to the Long Beach Museum of Art's Art Auction XVI!  It was a great event with lots of money raised for the Museum's many educational programs.  My piece Egg Chair At Night closed out the live auction!

Downtown Modernism Walking Tour

In conjunction with my City Modernism II exhibit, now open at the George Billis Gallery LA, I'll be leading an exclusive (and FREE) Downtown Modernism Walking Tour on Saturday, April 25th, from 2-4pm with the organization de LaB (Design East of LaBrea).  Join me as I walk from downtown LA's famous DWP Building to Parker Center, stopping at iconic examples of mid-century Modernism found along the way.  As I discuss what led me to feature these buildings in my latest show, author Alan Hess will provide their historical and architectural background.  For more info and to RSVP, please visit de LaB's website.

Mar Vista Modernism

This is the latest piece in my smaller 8x10" paintings I've been doing.  This fun example of mid-century cool is from the Mar Vista tract designed by Gregory Ain in 1947 and most recently featured in the Showtime series "Masters of Sex."  If interested in this painting, please contact me for details.

I'm pleased to announce my first solo show in New York City opening up September 4th at the George Billis Gallery.  This series will focus on mid-century design, architecture, and car culture found throughout the New York City area.  My goal is to take the feel of the very-California imagery that I've exhibited in the past, and apply it to the New York environment.  What similarities are there between the two coasts when it comes to Modernism?  What differences?  Please join me for the opening on September 4th at 6pm or catch it before it ends on September 27th.
